wowsers and wall-poppin

Setting up a gallery would be fantastic except for the artists. It's remarkably like a bleached and bathed Mondo, except replace the ratty hipster artists with senior citizens making mediocre sculpture and fiber art. Some of it is ok; I couldn't be happier that these people are making art in their spare time. I think everyone should be making art in their spare time. But wow, do these folks take themselves seriously, and they treat me like an ignoramus for not holding their hand while they decide if this piece needs to move to the left a few inches.

So it's an art show morning (they are already an hour over their scheduled time, and no hint of wrapping up anytime soon) and another string concert evening, with an afternoon of cleaning a nuclear testing zone of a tech booth. At least I am at work, and at least I can command a little respect. There is a nest of baby woodpeckers outside, and the air is dry and from the western sea, which incidentally must be warming by the day. The period away from the ocean has been the longest yet, and hopefully that will be soon fixed. Brandyn and I intended to go yesterday, but got caught up in a splendid walk and some documentary film watching. We also saw a fantastic panel on CSPAN with Bill Clinton and Ted Turner discussing energy policy and climate change. I love Bill Clinton.

Read Wolcott if you haven't been. He's on fire this week.
